From time to time I play around with fractals. To me, they are quite an interesting topic and I could spend hours creating new ones, traveling through them and always find some new patterns and places to look at. It’s a little bit like virtual cave-exploring.
In this post you can find a collection of fractals I created in Mandelbulb 3D. These are highly experimental and aren’t polished renderings, but rather inspirational snapshots, so the quality varies between images.
The formulas for this obelisk are an amazing box combined with amazing surf.
The transformation here is a result of changing the x-rotation in the surf formula from a factor of 0 till 65.
Without any fancy render or lighting settings, one frame took around 10 seconds to render.
The video itself is rendered at 25 FPS with 50% speed and chained to itself in reverse.
